Kells Government Micro, Inc. (KGMI) is a certified woman-owned small business that provides intranetworking, internetworking and related equipment to federal, state, city and local government.

Rosemary Kells, President, founded KGMI in Seattle in 1991. Its vision grew from her experience working for a number of leading computer industry companies. While working for Government Technology Services, Inc. (GTSI) as a senior account executive in technical sales, Kells recognized the advantage that a woman-owned small business would have. With her years of technical sales experience, knowledge of computer technology and government procurement practice from Unisys, Microsoft and GTSI, Kells began KGMI.

One of the few companies to specialize solely in selling to government agencies, KGMI quickly met the needs of various agencies and acquired a dedicated clientele. Selling to Fort Lewis, the Navy and the State of Washington helped KGMI garner nearly $1 million in sales its first year. The business that began in Kells’ garage now has added over 4000 clients at several military bases and government sites throughout the United States and Pacific Rim.

The growing list of clients and product manufacturers allows KGMI to continue in a growth pattern.  Their mission is to provide high performing and cost effective network communications products to Government agencies.

KGMI's current success is due largely to their expert knowledge of emerging intranetworking equipment. Product lines include Allied Telesyn, Enterasys Networks, Aprisma, Cisco Systems, Metrobility Optical Systems, and Omnitron. Most product sales are the result of face-to-face appointments and are conducted over the phone, or through on-line communication as speed is a service necessity. For example, KGMI is on-line with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and other government entities through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).

Kells Government Micro has an established history of providing customized client service through constant evaluation of the manufacturers' product lines and their customers’ current needs. KGMI looks to the future with plans to increase their staffing needs in 2004. Expanded services will allow for even more specialized customer service, its trademark.
